A lost or misdirected bag is one of travel's oldest anxieties — and proving it was ever checked in, and whose it is, has always depended on a paper tag that can be torn, soaked, or thrown away before anyone needs it. eReceipts replaces that paper tag with a scan: a digital, tamper-evident record that survives the flight even if the sticker doesn't.
Not a pilot. Not a concept. In production for years.
Under the name eReceipts, this exact mechanism has issued digital luggage tags for real airlines, airports, and hotels — real tags, scanned repeatedly, at real check-in counters, with no fraud or duplication of an issued code.
Operators who've used this in production include Mango Airlines, British Airways (via Comair Limited), Hertz (via CFAO Motors), and Hotel Sky, Cape Town — across airports, hotels, and retail on multiple continents.
One tag, one scan, done — before the bag even reaches the belt.
The tag can also include geo-location capture, so the receipt shows exactly where the bag was tagged, not just when.
A receipt that survives the flight.
No more digging through a bag for a torn paper stub. The proof of ownership is on their phone the moment they scan, and stays there.
Less time at the counter, less liability at the desk.
Staff attach a tag and move on — the traveller does the data entry themselves, on their own phone, in seconds.
Proof that doesn't depend on a memory.
A permanent, tamper-evident record of who tagged the bag and when — not a recollection of what a paper tag used to say.
This is running in production today — the conversation is about your specific rollout, not a proof of concept.
